Charlie McMorine

I'm Charlie McMorine, BA (Hons) Media and Communications (Television) graduate. My ultimate aim in studying television is to one day be Director of Photography within a production company.

The television genres that interest me the most are drama and documentary/factual television; working on programmes like Blue Planet or Peaky Blinders would be a true honour and dream come true. I want to expand my preexisting skills as well as gain new, valuable skills from the course making me ready for the world of work.

I have always wanted a career that directly impacts the lives of people and I believe that studying media and being a part of this bigger picture will help me accomplish this dream.

The Royal Television Society

As of August 2017 I became a proud recipient of the Royal Television Society's Television Production and Broadcast Journalism Bursary.

The bursary is put in place to help students from low income households with expenses in every aspect of university life. In addition, I am a full member of the Royal Television Society which is a huge honour in itself; this means I have access to events put on by the RTS giving me a chance to meet people within the industry. My first taste of this was the 3 day masterclass in London during November 2017 and I continue to attend events yearly.

This allowed me to meet other bursary students, listen to wise words from people working in the industry and have a meal with the patrons. Being part of the RTS is something I am very proud of.

Storm in a Teacup Podcast

I am one of the co-hosts of the Storm in a Teacup Podcast. This is a podcast run by myself and a long time friend of mine. We started it during our time in lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak as something to keep us busy.

The podcast isn't topic specific; we like to speak about the things we're passionate about. We will cover topics in the media if they interest us and we intend to speak about relatable topics as well as ones personal to us. We are keen to get guests onto the podcast to tell their stories to the audience.
